When author Karen Pavlicin was asked to be the keynote speaker at the 103rd National Guard Association of Minnesota Conference dinner April 26, she wanted to do something special. The leadership of the conference had decided to make the theme of the dinner focused on the American military family. So in addition to sharing her usual inspirational thoughts, Karen wrote a song in honor of the Minnesota National Guard and dedicated to all U.S. military service members and their families. Karen talks with many different service groups and support organizations across the country throughout the year, but "these are my neighbors," she said, "and I wanted to do something extra special." Plus, the event took place on her birthday. "Each year on my birthday, I reflect on my many blessings. One that I very much cherish is my freedom," she said. "This song and video is one way I can say thank you to each person who plays a role in that blessing."
