Many organizations make it easy to give to military personnel and their families for the holidays. Here are just a few:
Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) "Gifts From the Homefront." Send an AAFES gift certificate to military family members, friends, loved ones, or any service member. Military personnel can redeem certificates at AAFES Exchange retail stores around the world.
Operation Gratitude: Accepts donations of items two times a year (Oct. 15 - Dec. 15 for the Holiday Drive and May 1 - June 15 for the Patriotic Drive), then packages gifts and sends them to the troops.
Operation Homefront: Give a gift certificate for groceries to a military family. Good at military commissaries around the world.
Operation Military Pride: Register online, and Operation Military Pride will send you the name, address, and wish list of a military service member.
Operation Uplink. Purchases phone cards and distributes them to servicemen and women who are separated from those they care about. Supported by contributions.
Soldier's Angel. Adopt a hero by committing to send a card or letter a week and at least two care packages a month. Also offers other programs to support injured troops.
USO Care Packages. With a donation of $25 you can sponsor a care package to be delivered to a member of the U.S. Armed Forces deployed somewhere around the world. These USO Care Packages include requested items such as pre-paid worldwide phone cards, sunscreen, travel size toiletries, disposable camera, and a message from the donor thanking them for their service and sacrifice.
